A Consumer price index (CPI) measures changes in the price level of consumer goods and services purchased by households. The CPI, in the United States is defined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics as "a measure of the average change over time in the prices paid by urban consumers for a market basket of consumer goods and services."

In South Sudan, the CPI numbers are released the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

2012

The South Sudan Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.3% from August 2012 to September 2012. The CPI increase was mainly driven by higher food prices. The CPI increased in Malakal by 13.9%, 0.7% in Wau and decreased by 4.0% in Juba. The South Sudan CPI increased by 42.9% from September 2011 to September 2012. The CPI increased by 53.9% in Malakal, 40.7% in Juba and 12.6% in Wau from September 2011 to September 2012.

November 2011

Higher prices of furnishing and household equipment, increases the Consumer Price Index in South Sudan by 2.7% from October to November 2011. October 2011

As per the South Sudan Nation Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the Consumer Price Index of South Sudan is increased by 7.4% from September to October 2011. It increased by 71.1% from October 2011 to October 2011.

The increase of 7.4% from September to October was mainly due to the higher prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages. Their price was increased by 11%.
