The Government of South Sudan (GoSS) and the South Sudanese Investment Agency (SSIA) have just organized a two-day investment conference. The conference was organized to showcase the economic potential of South Sudan to the world and to attract investments.

The investment conference is organized for the first time since the country has become independent. The conference aims at attracting investments so as to boost the economy. The conference was attended by over 500 local and foreign investors and delegates and was held at the Venue Freedom Hall. The conference had five sectoral themes: Agribusiness, Infrastructure, Tourism & Hospitality, Mining and Petroleum.

Speaking at the conference, President Salva Kiir Mayardit asked investors to take advantage of the fact that the South Sudanese economy is still in its infancy to invest. He said that successful business is about venturing and taking a business risk. He said that those who wait for too long will miss the vast investment opportunities that the country offers.

The President said that South Sudan is open to doing business with local, regional and international investors to put the country’s vast resources into effective use. He called for a mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and skills between locals and investors and said that investment in South Sudan should be a win-win for both our foreign partners and our citizens.
