South Sudan becomes FIFA member

South Sudan, on May 25, 2012, has been officially taken in as the member of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA). This is a major boost for the sports fraternity of the football-loving nation.

With this admission to FIFA, the Salam Football Club of Wau will be able to represent the country in the Central and Eastern Confederation of African Football Association (CECAFA) competition to be held in July 2012 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Mr. Chabur Goc is the chairperson of South Sudan Football Association and his team was responsible for getting the recognition for the country. The Minister for Culture, Youth and Sports Dr. Cirino Hiteng Ofuho and his team extended the necessary support.
