Sudan reports receiving $236 million from South Sudan towards oil transportation fee
August 28, 2013
The official media of Sudan is reported to have said that the Sudan Government has received $236 million in oil transportation fees from South Sudan in 2013. This is the first time that Sudan has officially disclosed the oil transportation fee.
The fees, paid through Sudan Central Bank, are charged for the transportation of oil from South Sudan to Port Sudan.
Khartoum, for a while now, is threatening South Sudan of stopping its oil transportation via Sudan unless Juba stops supporting rebels in Sudan. Back on August 23, the United Nations Security Council interfered and asked Khartoum not to stop the oil flow.
