Tanzania and South Sudan
- February 2014: Tanzania Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Bernard Membe has made an appeal to conflicting parties in South Sudan to lay down arms and negotiate towards a permanent peaceful solution. The appeal came soon after the United Nations appealed to Tanzania to send volunteering troops to South Sudan in a peace keeping mission. Tanzania has sent peace troops to many conflicting nations such as DR Congo, Darfur and Lebanon.
- July 25, 2011: Tanzania Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation minister, Bernard Membe says South Sudan is welcome to join the East African Community (EAC) if it applies. The Minister, speaking to the House, said that the nation always remembers John Garang, the founder of South Sudan. He said that South Sudan joining EAC will foster bilateral relations.
